The Port of New Orleans recently reached a notable safety milestone marking zero incidents reported for a six-month period — the Port’s lowest ever safety incident rate among its 250-plus employees.
Port NOLA’s executive team honored crews from the Port’s facility maintenance, cruise maintenance, bridge maintenance/operations, equipment/fleet maintenance, fendering, dredge, fireboat, and crane maintenance, as well as the Harbor Police Department for their vigilance in keeping the workplace safe.
Crews were met with signed thank you cards and posters expressing gratitude for the important role each person plays in keeping themselves and their coworkers safe.
“These results are certainly not a coincidence, but the result of skill, training, improvement of processes, and implementation of new policies administered by our Safety Management team,” said Port NOLA President and CEO Brandy D. Christian. “I congratulate all the managers and employees in this continuous upgrading of our safety records. The Port NOLA leadership team supports and encourages all ongoing safety initiatives and training programs for our employees, so that we can work together to maintain this positive trend of a safe workplace for all for a very long time.”
